Hollywood star Val Kilmer was rushed to a hospital this week after he began bleeding from the throat with a suspected tumour.
According to reports in the US the Top Gun star was admitted on Monday night after paramedics rushed to his home in Malibu following a 911 call.
He was taken to UCLA Medical Centre, Santa Monica, where doctors performed surgery.
He is currently recovering in hospital In October Val was in small claims court over a dispute with his former home and he told the judge he was unable to speak because his tongue was swollen.
He was seen two weeks ago at a LA Clippers basketball game with his son.
Throughout the game he wore a black scarf around his neck.
Originally a stage actor, the 55-year-old shot to fame playing Lieutenant Tom "Iceman" Kazanski alongside Tom Cruise in the 1986 Top Gun.He then went on to play Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone's The Doors before being cast as Batman.
